Summary

  • You can read, search and download every report without giving us any personal information.
  • This site does not use cookies, analytics, advertising or tracking tools.
  • If you contact us, we use your name, email and message only to reply.
  • We do not sell, rent or trade personal information.

Who we are

This site is run by [Legal entity name, e.g. Doctren Research Inc.] (ABN [ABN]), referred to as "Doctren", "we" or "us". We are a non-profit research organisation based in New South Wales, Australia.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Where the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation applies to you, we also respect the rights it gives you.

What we collect

When you contact us. The contact form asks for your name, email address, the subject of your message and the message itself. We collect this only when you choose to send it.

When you visit the site. Like every website, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when your browser requests a page: your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. This is used to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We do not use it to identify you.

What we do not collect. We do not use cookies, analytics, social media tracking pixels, fingerprinting or advertising tools. Search runs in your browser using files from this site, and we do not record what you search for. Fonts are served from our own site, not from third-party font services.

How we use it

We use the information you send us to:

  • reply to your message;
  • consider your offer to research, translate or review, if that is why you wrote;
  • keep a record of correspondence about our research, such as a correction request.

We will not add you to a mailing list or contact you for other purposes without your permission.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers who help us run the site, and only as much as they need:

  • Netlify, Inc. hosts the site and receives contact form submissions. Netlify stores data in the United States and other countries. See Netlify's privacy policy.
  • Our email provider, if form messages are forwarded to our inbox.

Because these providers are overseas, your information may be stored outside Australia. We use providers that apply recognised security and privacy safeguards.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep messages only as long as we need them to respond and to keep a reasonable record of our correspondence. We review stored messages at least once a year and delete those we no longer need. Hosting logs are kept by Netlify for a short period under its own retention policy.

How we protect it

The site is served only over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Access to form submissions is limited to the people who need to answer them, and accounts are protected with strong passwords and two-factor authentication.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you;
  • correct information that is wrong;
  • delete your information, where we are not required to keep it.

To do any of these, email us. We will reply within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first.

Complaints

If you are concerned about how we have handled your personal information, contact us first and we will try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner or, if you are in the EU or UK, your local data protection authority.

Children

This site is meant for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has sent us their details, contact us and we will delete them.

Links to other sites

Reports and pages link to other websites, including our social media accounts. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which we do not control.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the site or the law changes. The date at the top of the page shows when it last changed.
