Our goal
We aim for this site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we have done
- Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a "Skip to content" link.
- Text and background colours meet WCAG AA contrast ratios.
- Pages use proper headings, landmarks and labels, so screen readers can navigate them.
- Text can be enlarged to 200% without loss of content, and the layout adapts to small screens.
- Reports use a readable line length and type size.
- Images that carry meaning have text alternatives.
- The site works without JavaScript, except for search, which offers a link to browse all research instead.
Known limitations
- PDF downloads may not be fully accessible to every screen reader. Every report is also available as an accessible web page on this site.
- Older reports or third-party figures may lack detailed text descriptions. We fix these when we find them.
Alternative formats
If you need a report in another format, such as large print, plain text or an accessible Word document, contact us and we will do our best to provide it.
Feedback
If you find something on the site that is hard to use, please tell us which page and what went wrong. We aim to reply within 5 working days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Australian Human Rights Commission.
